Exeter Cathedral

Although badly damaged in the Blitz, a lot of Exeter cathedral has survived. Particularly the memorial plaques on the wall. Many people obviously went to south Devon for their health and then died. Others died in unfortunate ways like the poor woman in the picture. The other thing was the 18th century tendency to verbosity. Did they not pay by the word or did a surplus of words prove how rich you were?
