To Sydney

Yesterday (Sunday), Rachael and I had a quiet day pottering. We went to see a display of quite lovely landscape photos by a local well-known photographer (https://kenduncan.com) and then to the pictures again to see Knives Out – Agatha Christie in modern dress and in the US. Good plot though.

Today I have been packing and then off for a stretch again. Good stuff – I feel much better. Dave (bless him) then drove me to Sydney where I am ensconced in somewhere called Mrs Banks Boutique Hotel.

I have picked up two bits of news today. There are floods on the west coast of New Zealand and a load of tourists are trapped in Fox Glacier town (November 22nd). Also, the volcano on the White Island (November 13th) has erupted and tourists are missing. If you put this alongside the fact that there was a fire in Pacific Palisades near where I was staying in California just after I left, I appear to be having some sort of major effect on the climate.

  1. I can never quite remember the order of the correlation/causation thing, but I’m pretty sure this isn’t down to you. However, Sydney strikes me as a safer place than the suburbs right now. I wonder what qualifies somewhere as a ’boutique’ hotel – nos. of rooms? rails of free 1960s clothing? a strong smell of patchouli? I’ve Googled it – looks great and a good location for shopping/sites. Have fun. *g*
