History!

Again, apologies for the late posting but yesterday’s took SO long with both dodgy Wi-Fi and 4G, that I fell asleep before I could do anything else.

We went to Bayeux to have a look at the Bayeux Tapestry (not made in Bayeux and an embroidery not a tapestry but hey….. it was made in the 11th century so we are just grateful it’s still available to see. See https://www.bayeuxmuseum.com/en/the-bayeux-tapestry/discover-the-bayeux-tapestry/ for details – as, of course, I could not take photos.

This is the Holocaust Memorial (in Square of the Deported) with all the civilians from the town who were killed by the Nazis – and where.

Next, we were off to Omaha Beach, where Sherry’s grandfather came ashore in a tank in the summer of 1944.

This was a better museum than anticipated – including some of the photos taken during the invasion by Robert Capa.

Certificate proving the bearer is not of the Jewish race.
Memorial to all the men who died at Omaha Beach.
