A bit of a PS from Scotland, Cumbria etc.

This is the house in Jedburgh where Mary Queen of Scots stayed in 1566, now a museum. As I was on my own with the dog I couldn’t go in but the gardens were lovely.

The way home (on Bank Holiday Monday) was ghastly. The M6 was so crowded that all the services south of Lancaster had queues going onto the motorway to get in. The world, his wife and their caravan returning from holiday presumably. When I stopped at Keele Services, there was nowhere to park so I ended up in the garage, walking the dog round the pumps. There was a man in full hi-vis in the shop (nothing like a bottle of water and a packet of Tangfastic for lunch) saying on his phone ‘I can’t deliver anything because the place is a car park’. He was the tanker driver and there was a brand new Range Rover in front of his pumps.

Interestingly, (that might be the wrong word), I got through Birmingham easily and, on the M5 going south, all the delays were on the other carriageway – returning from holidays in the South West presumably.

I am now on holiday again so watch this space…….
