Avignon to Carcassonne

This will be a shortish post as I have spent most of the day on trains and in stations.

This morning I wandered around some of the shopping streets of Avignon – not quite as chi chi as Aix but still full of lovely things, darlings. Concentrates the mind, taking a small suitcase.

Bella Ciao – Utopian Bakers. Bella Ciao is of course the song of the Italian resistance.
Shame I’m going to miss it.
How you move into a top floor flat in the historic centre of Avignon.

So, off I went to the station again to catch a train to Nimes, then a TGV to Carcassonne. The train to Nimes was cancelled which was a bit of a bummer as I had a (compulsory) reservation on the TGV. The nice man in the ticket office gave me tickets for both bits of the trip – reserving me a seat on the later TGV without me having to prove anything to him – even that I had a ticket at all. Everything then happened a hour or so later but I got here.

This is my B and B, run by a nice Canadian couple. I have been out for dinner in a restaurant owned by a bloke who runs a Michelin starred place round the corner. Very nice.
