Well today I have been on a trip round the interior of the island by 4 wheel drive truck thing. It is basically an ancient volcanic caldera that blew its top off years ago. Vertical forests, mainly consisting of plants one buys in polite pots at the garden centre, hoping they won’t die in the winter. These versions are just 40 feet tall. I thought it was a national park but no. Guide seemed to think it would be a good idea if the people who owned the land built on it. Not sure my french was up to explaining the loss of trees > loss of topsoil > loss of rain pattern, especially as he had previously explained how he didn’t believe in global warming!

Shouldn’t you be standing under a waterfall?

Good grief! You’ve seen it and it’s amazing, but how can these idiots not take plain scientific fact seriously.
