Just to say that I find the election results very very strange. I do not want to come back and find we have left the EU, that all the NHS contracts are going to US drug companies and that the entire social contract has finally collapsed.
Today Anne and Andy (with their grandson, Josh) have taken me to visit various sites around the area. The landscape looks like my stereotypical idea of the Australian bush – brown grass with surrounding trees. We went to Hahndorf and visited The Cedars, family home and studio of Hans Heysen, famous Australian painter. (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hans_Heysen). The house was lovely, very Arts and Crafts with a gorgeous garden.

After that we had a nice lunch in Hahndorf. This is an almost entirely German town, founded by German immigrants in the middle of the 19th century. There are lots of old houses and touristy type shops.

This is the Australian version of an offie.

After this we went to the Cleland Wildlife Park where we could feed kangaroos, saw a Tasmanian Devil being fed, saw a selection of highly venomous snakes and lizards, looked at sleeping dingoes and wondered about the nocturnal animals that weren’t coming out for anyone.

After that, to the top of Mount Lofty from where you can see the whole of Adelaide and the sea beyond. Josh attracted the attention of a toddler who followed him around and tried to climb up onto the pillar he was standing on. This is Anne and Andy in front of the view.

When we got back we discovered that one of the dogs had voted with her teeth about being left indoors all day.

The conservatives got in then. I had completely forgotten to check the results!!

Shocking, shocking result. I can’t bear to watch.
The place looks good although I’m not sure about the venomous snakes!!

I have to admit I didn’t see that result coming. I could yet live to get my Scottish passport.
The Tasmanian Devil looks, if not exactly cuddly, not too devilish. I think I read something recently about folk on an outback road who are sure they saw something like a thylocine. It would be wonderful if it had survived somewhere remote.

Looks like a great day out even though one of the dogs didn’t think so!
Yes, well I won’t comment on the election results.
Enjoy yourself and take care.
