Bali day 4

Off out for the day with Madeh again. Still no idea on how to spell his name but here he is being menaced by a scary owl.

We went to the Ulun Danu temple on Lake Beratan. It is a very photogenic temple with a rash of selfie takers. I had to push myself forward and say very loudly ‘Can I just take one without any people please?’ Otherwise you would all be treated to a lot of people smiling broadly but I had no idea who they were.

The small children were taking their parents photo. We also went past some scenic hills and rice paddies. I couldn’t stop and photograph everything scenic.

After the temple we went to see the ‘selfie gates’. They are actually (now) the gates to the golf course but someone is raking it in charging people to have their photo taken in front of them.

Then there was more photogenic lunch – not cooked by me. Not sure why there is a tyrannosaurus in the middle of the restaurant.

Last visit of the afternoon – to see batik being made and to give me another shopping opportunity.

I am now sittting in the bar enjoying the happy hour two for the price of one cocktails. Here are some more pictures of the hotel to keep you going. Fingers crossed for planes tomorrow.

  1. I know that you have more exciting places to see, but there must be a ‘small’ temptation to stay there…beautiful architecture, stunning views and your name in melon…

The golf club gates are a little ‘Indiana Jones and the Bunker on Nine’ but admittedly worth a selfie. Safe journey tomorrow.

  2. Well, would loved to have been there with you enjoying happy hour! Right up my street! Your day sounded great, very jealous. Outdoor PE in a chilly yard in North Wales doesn’t compare….
    Love Sonya x
