Nunney Castle. Built in the French style (unusual for Somerset) with a moat in the 14thC and bombarded by Cromwell’s army in the 17thC. The wall bombarded didn’t collapse until 1910.

A private park with a range of sculpture around lakes and water features. They have seats and a cafe as well as cottages you can rent for events (not overnight)

Salisbury Cathedral

Famously visited by the two Russians allegedly on their way to poison Mr Skripal, this is 800 years old and the tallest cathedral in the UK.

12thC cope case. Still in use and still in position in the cathedral. As it takes three people to hold the lid up, they only store the special occasion copes in it.

A mosaic of mediaeval stained glass, removed from the windows, unusually, in 1790. The bishop employed an architect who removed all ornament that had escaped Cromwell.
View of the cathedral and town from Old Sarum. This was a royal castle, town and original site of the cathedral. After the cathedral moved, it gradually fell into disuse although it continued to send two members to parliament until 1832.
