And it is the last day…..

View of where I am staying from the fell whilst the dog chased rabbits. Surprising how places that feel very isolated aren’t really.
Picture of wild roses for visual entertainment.

Off to lunch with the non goddaughter and partner. This involved three dogs – the two we already had – mine and the irritating puppy – and another, more sensible one. Puppy and home dog gallivanting around the garden and mine perched on the garden furniture looking disdainful. Although she did sneak off and was found in next doors kitchen!

Lovely place on the river in Haydon Bridge. I haven’t taken any pictures but https://www.visitnorthumberland.com/explore/destinations/towns-villages/haydon-bridge.

On the way back we passed through Ninebanks. Tiny village, mainly farms but with a nice Georgian house and a 16C tower, apparently part of a previous house or possibly some sort of watch tower. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ninebanks

Leaving Haydon Bridge in bright sunshine and heading for Alston Moor, the clouds rolled in. The Alston Moor microclimate is a real thing – thick cloud and pouring rain on the moor and visible sunshine on the other side in Penrith.

  1. Did next door’s kitchen have sausages on the go? Lovely photos as usual and in Morebattle we absolutely understand about the microclimate thing…here a ‘lazy wind’ blows straight up the main street most of the time. Safe journey home.
