More Guernsey

Today we were supposed to go to Sark but the wind got up and the boat couldn’t go. Instead we pottered about , Sherry had a massage, I went to the museum and we went on a tour of a cider farm.

Most entertaining cigarette disposal I’ve ever seen. Although do you think the people from the offices around put one in each side every time they come out to smoke?

The museum has a rather random selection of items as it started when four eminent Victorian gentlemen left their collections to the town. This is a club from the Marquesas Islands. If you scroll back to October 2019, you will find my blog entries from my visit to the Marquesas.

The cider orchard is local and organic but actually owned by Thatchers. We were shown round the orchard, had the principles of how it all works explained, were shown the cider press and the still for the apple brandy (which is ABSOLUTELY not Calvados) and then got to sample various versions With cheese and biscuits, just in case.

  1. That glass jellyfish is spectacular! Do the Calvados makers complain, I wonder, about the Apple Brandy makers. The orchard looks lovely with all the blossom beginning to come out.
