And finally…..

Today started not in the manner I would like with all of my beautiful dinner thrown up all over the bathroom. Fun fun fun.

We then left the hotel and went up to Superga, a church on top of a hill overlooking Turin where all the members of the Royal House of Savoy are buried. No photos because a) I didn’t get out of the coach and b) because the fog was so thick you couldn’t see anything of the view. Yes, it does have the same name as the plimsolls – apparently they were / are made nearby. https://www.basilicadisuperga.com/it/

The other thing the hill is famous for is a plane crash when the whole of the Juventus team were killed. Many references to Manchester United.

After that we went to Lingotto – the famous Fiat factory with the test track on the roof (famously used in The Italian Job). Before he died, Gianni Agnelli left a portion of his art collection to the state and they have made a floating gallery on the roof to house it. They have also made a shopping centre downstairs and a garden around the actual track.

View from the ground up to the test track.
Test track
Test track.

After lunch (green tea 🤮) off we went to the airport and have been hanging around here ever since. Fingers crossed for driving home from Heathrow. Until next time x

  1. So sorry to hear that you’ve not been well. If you can find ginger sweets at the airport they might help.

Once again, many thanks for allowing us to eavesdrop on your scenic, educational, tasty Italian break.

    love,

    B. xxx
