Montpellier

Arrived here yesterday morning and will be here until I go back to England on Monday. The train left an hour late (something to do with no power at Bordeaux station where it started its route).

I spent Friday afternoon with my friend Anne who used to live in London but moved back to France in 2020. We had lunch and went to the Musee Fabre to see the Soulages exhibition.

I am now staying with Paula and Andrew in the village of Montferrier sur Lez.

Today Paula, Andrew and I went for a walk in the grounds of the domaine de Restinclières. This is a chateau and estate that used to belong to a private landlord but now belongs to the town.

  1. You’ve picked such a diverse series of locations. It was very interesting to see some of the surrounding woodlands. They don’t seem to have suffered too much from the fierce droughts this Summer, or is the water in the river the remnants of recent flooding? Certainly, everything is still very green and the trees are only just beginning to turn to autumn…and you’ve been lucky with the weather.

Safe journey home and thanks for allowing us to come along for the ride.
